Tendonitis

If you overuse your feet or suffer an injury, tendonitis is likely to result. Even failing to properly stretch before engaging in physical activity or using the wrong form while exercising can expedite the development of tendonitis. In terms of care, Thunderbird Footcare recommends trying ice and rest to get a sense of whether it reduces the pain. Reman off the foot for a while, apply ice four times per day for periods of 10-15 minutes and gauge your progress or stagnation.

If the pain from tendonitis does not diminish with rest and ice or if the pain extends beyond a week’s time, meet with a foot specialist at Thunderbird. We will analyze your tendonitis, determine how to best approach relieving the pain and take action to prevent injury. You might benefit form a soft cast or a shoe insert to help immobilize the affected section of the foot for a period of time. The use of oral medication for pain relief during this period will also help alleviate pain and enhance your mobility.
